Near 300 people with limited physical possibilities live in Shepetivka of Khmelnytsky region with the population of 44 thousand people. There are 2 Social Rehabilitation Centers for disabled people in the city, but despite of their hard work, they cannot involve all who wishes within its activity. City authority in Shepetivka and personally City Head Antonyuk S.A. actively joined to seeking of resources and not used reserves.
The first resource is staff. And it is enormous in Shepetivka! There is a Master of Sport of International Class in power lifting among disabled people, Many-time Champion and Records Man of Ukraine Oleg Lavruk among inhabitants of the city. Being a trainer in physical training and sport by profession, Oleg knows both sport and rehabilitation work with disabled people; however, he has been on wheels for 15 years as the result of car crush. Beside mass of medals, rewards of different levels, this year he was chosen as the candidate for All-Ukrainian Prize “Honor of the country”.
Unfortunately, O.Lavruk`s knowledge and skills has stayed unrealized in the city level till now. But the City Head as a hard-working master gathers welfare of Shepetivka inhabitants as pearls. He suggested Lavruk to form a sport club for disabled people and start training work.
The second necessary resource is premises. According to the instructions of the City Head a sports hall and a training room were prepared to work and specialized city program on sport development among disabled people was elaborated for it, 25 thousand UAH was allocated from city budget for repairing work that was succeeded, agreement was concluded with O.Lavruk on activity according to the program.
The third resource is to create a material base of specialized sports hall. City budget is overloaded by the mass of urgent problems. “That is why we need wise manager decision here that can combine efforts of whole territorial community, organize so-called “toloka”, - Sergiy Andriyovych thinks. That was the reason to take the decision on signing of Memorandum of collaboration between Shepetivka City Council, Youth Non-governmental Organization “Cedar”, KRCF “Strengthening Communities”, “Svarog West Group” Corporation and group of private entrepreneurs.
“Toloka” results would come soon. Young volunteers from “Cedar” not only organized series of Saturday work on equipping of the sports hall but elaborated project “Movement to Life”, that was financially supported by National Endowment for Democracy (the USA) mediated by the net of Non-governmental Organizations in Vinnychyna. Thanks to this, it was bought the part of sport inventory for physical trainings.
KRCF “Strengthening Communities” whose one priority work is to support disabled people also actively joined to “toloka”. Costs were allocated to furniture the premises, to create a room of social and psychological rehabilitation of disabled people. It is the eleventh establishment for particular category of people supported by the Foundation already. Benefactor “Svarog West Group” Corporation led by Deputy of Khmelnytsky Regional Council A.A.Gordiychuk is well-known all over the region and has been supporting Oleg Lavruk financially and morally for 4 years. That is why it has already supported the initiative on creating the gymnastics hall. A specialized sport bench, a rubber floor covering are the list of good deeds that are planned to be widened soon. Private entrepreneurs also responded on the deed of Shepetivka community. The presents such as TV-set, DVD-player and speakers for informational training supplying and other up-to-date items for comfortable work were prepared to opening of the sports hall.
